Pressure Vessel Technology

Pressure Vessel Technology at P&M Industries

Our pressure vessel technology secures gasses and liquids safely. We handle everything from steel pressure vessel drums to boiler shells. Our pressure vessels are built to ASME Code standards, ensuring the highest quality, safety, and reliability.

Quality Materials Matter

Choosing the right materials is key when it comes to manufacturing pressure vessels that can handle extreme conditions. That’s why we’re meticulous about selecting the best steel to meet your specific temperature and pressure requirements. Here’s what we consider when choosing materials:

  • Yield strength (How much stress can the steel handle before bending)
  • Tensile strength (The maximum load the material can bear)
  • Creep strength (Long-term stress resistance)
  • Charpy impact values (Toughness of the steel at low temperatures)

Our Go-To Steel Materials:

  • SA516 Grades 55, 60, 65, 75: Perfect for moderate or low-temperature applications.
  • TC128 Grade B: Ultra tough steel typically used in pressurized railroad tank cars.
  • A612: Another strong option for moderate to low temperature pressure applications.
  • SA240: This stainless steel is perfect for high-heat, corrosive environments—ideal for everything from food production to high-performance pressure vessels.

The Pressure Vessel Manufacturing Process

We pay attention to every detail to ensure quality. Here’s how we do it:

  • Material Selection: Chosen based on the application’s temperature and pressure needs.
  • Cutting: We cut the steel plates to size and add any necessary openings.
  • Rolling: We roll the plates into the required diameter—from 12″ up to 14′.
  • Welding: We join the seams, both lengthwise and around the circumference. X-ray inspections ensure everything is flawless.
  • Quality Control: We trace every piece of material used in construction and follow strict ASME tolerances to avoid any stress points in the vessel.
  • Heat Treatment: Sometimes, preheating or post-weld heat treatments are required.
